A dynamic and experienced leader is sought to become Chair of the Board of Trustees of the new organisation that will be formed through the merging of ADAD/Dance UK/NDTA/YDE.On 1st April 2016 the Association of Dance of the African Diaspora, Dance UK, the National Dance Teachers’ Association and Youth Dance England will unite to form a new single entity which will provide a unified, powerful and confident voice for the dance sector.
The vision and concept for the new organisation was launched at Dance UK’s industry-wide conference The Future: New Ideas, New Inspirations on 9th April 2015. Work is in progress to establish a new name, a new brand and new digital presence which will encapsulate the aspirations of the new organisation as the voice, the champion and the body for dance.
We are looking for a Chair for the new organisation - an established leader and advocate with a passion for dance, someone who:
• Is excited by the opportunities and challenges of becoming the founding figurehead of an organisation that supports, serves and champions dance
• Is well-networked in and beyond the dance sector and is able to position dance within the wider cultural and political context
• Is a strong leader and excellent team-builder
• Understands the breadth of the new organisation’s remit and is able to build and lead a Board with an appropriate range of knowledge and specialisms
• Is able to listen to and effect decisions from a wide range of viewpoints and perspectives
• Communicates confidently, persuasively and inclusively
• Is a strategic thinker and able to navigate effectively in the political arena
• Can navigate multiple stakeholder relationships
• Is known in and respected by the dance sector
• Understands and accepts the legal duties required
• Can commit the time needed for the position.
