Arts Council England's Funding (2015-2018)

We welcome Arts Council England’s announcement that it will work with The Association of Dance of the African Diaspora (ADAD), Dance UK, Youth Dance England (YDE) and National Dance Teachers Association (NDTA) to support us as a consortium over three years, (2015-2018). This funding will be through a commissioned programme of activity, separate to NPO funding. This is brilliant news and marks a new exciting period for ADAD as we work in partnership with YDE, Dance UK and NDTA to pro-actively respond to industry demand for radical transformation of its workforce and talent support. Together, we are collaborating to create a ground-breaking new business model to support innovation and talent, entrepreneurship, good practice, and creativity in dance in the UK. This will benefit the dance sector by providing a centralised knowledge hub, strategic initiatives with industry wide benefit, and a more powerful voice for dance to policy makers and politicians.

The announcement of the new three year Arts Council England National Portfolio investment is a good outcome for dance overall, though with some disappointments for individual companies. The investment in the National Portfolio has increased by 9.4%, which is a big leap, taking dance’s proportion of the total portfolio funding from 11% to 12%.
