Call for a Creative Producer

ADAD has applied for the BBC Performing Arts Fund 2014 to host a fellow from September 2014 to May 2014 in a part time role of Creative Producer. The fellow will have an opportunity to work with ADAD and its dance consortium partners to support the planning and delivery of key public facing and ground breaking national and international programmes which include:

- Re:generations International Conference in November 2014, a major 3-day international gathering of artists, academics and students focused on shaping the future of dance forms within the African Diaspora through performances, talks, discussions and dance workshops/master classes. The event hosted at Pavilion Dance South West (PDSW) in Bournemouth, will be delivered in partnership with ADAD, IRIE! dance theatre, De Montfort University and Pavilion Dance South West.

- ADAD’s Bloom ‘London’ Festival in April 2015 which will take place as part of DanceUK industry wide conference: The Future We Want: New Models, New Aspiration for Dance from 9th - 12th April 2014. This international gathering for the dance sector will debate and contribute to ideas for a new dance policy that sets out the sector’s ambitions and challenges for 2015-2018. The conference also marks the start of the collaborative working model Consortium made up of ADAD, Dance UK, Youth Dance England(YDE) and National Dance Teachers Association (NDTA).
Bloom Festival explores and celebrates dance from Africa and its Diaspora through performances, workshops, film and discussion and takes place in London and regions across the UK.

- ADAD’s Open stage is an informal platform that gives dance artists who work with African influenced dance forms, a chance to perform and receive feedback on work in progress from a panel of dance professionals and audiences made up of managers, peers and the general public. The platforms provide a safe, supportive environment for artists at any stage of their careers, to test out new ideas.

- ADAD’s Trailblazers Showcase which takes place as a culmination event for the Trailblazers Fellows. This will take place in May 2015 and showcase the results of the artists who have completed their year long Professional Development Fellowship.
The projects provide the Fellow with a wide spectrum of activities as a Creative Producer and will help to develop valuable skills from producing performances to programming events and working on logistics around project planning and delivery with all partners and contributors involved.

The role will provide the Fellow will benefits from

- Producing a creative project with mentorship from ADAD’s Artistic Director which include the opportunity to lead on areas such as artistic programming, marketing, publicity and/or other areas in line with the fellow’s personal professional development requirements

-Shadowing ADAD’s artistic Director on strategic planning and development

-a free place to attend Dance UK’s Agile Fundraising and the Business of Dance training seminars

-access to UK and international networks through free attendance at all partners conferences and events

-access to the expertise of all partners involved in ADAD’s projects as well as other partners events throughout the fellowship period.

-mentoring and one to one support from industry leaders

-support to devise a bespoke professional development plan with objectives for the 12 months following the initial fellowship

-access to desk space and office facilities in a shared office space with ADADs partners Dance UK, YDE and NDTA

Criteria for the Placement:

We are looking to host a motivated emerging producer, who demonstrates an interest in dance, performing arts and/or African cultures. The ideal candidate will either have completed their training in a relevant field within the previous 2-3 years or will be making a transition from working as a practitioner to being a producer. In addition the candidate will have gained 6-12 months experience (paid or voluntary) in the field of arts administration and/or managing arts events.
