Dance Under Construction
Dance
Under Construction is a series of evenings of dance performance at The
Drum in Birmingham. The series was developed to give artists working
with dance of the African Diaspora an opportunity to stage new work or
remount pieces in preparation for touring. The events are open to the
public and give a sneak preview of the artists' upcoming shows.
The audience has an opportunity to give feedback to the artists after each performance.
Each
event features two short works, including African, Caribbean, Jazz and
Street Dance. In its inaugural season in Spring 2008 Dance Under
Construction included performances from Imani Jendai (Manchester),
Keisha Grant (Birmingham), RJC Dance (Leeds), Sean Graham, Vicki Igbokwe
and Adesola Akinleye (London). ADAD is currently seeking new partners
to support the further development of Dance Under Construction.
