Dr Derrick Anderson CBE
Derrick Anderson, CBE, has been a Patron for ADAD since 2007. He is the current Chief Executive of Lambeth Council. Derrick, who was born in London, has over 30 years of senior management experience at local and national government levels. He was voted Public Leader of the Year in the Guardian National Public Services Awards 2012.
In addition to his role in Lambeth he is also involved as board member in a range of other organisations. He is a non executive Director of the Social Finance Board (inventors of social impact bonds), a Princes Trust Ambassador and Vice President of UK Youth. Derrick has sat on numerous national think tanks and policy forums and was named in the UK Powerlist for both 2012, 2013.
A keen interest in the arts, sport and culture (as choreographer, artistic director of several African dance companies, in the past) and his interests and endeavours in athletics, led to him becoming a non executive director of the company who won the 2012 Olympics for UK and an advisor on the UK City of Culture 2013 selection board.
Derrick was awarded a CBE for services to local government in 2002 and has subsequently acquired honorary Doctorates from Staffordshire and Birmingham University for work in the fields of culture, sport and local government.
