Welcome to the Autumn 2009 edition of Hotfoot Online.

In this issue, photos by Irven Lewis (ADAD Trailblazer 2003/04) give you a glimpse of ADAD’s successful Bloom Festival of Dance of the African Diaspora, which was held on June 6-7, 2009 at Southbank Centre, London. The event was a brilliant success - the photos speak for themselves!

We also take a look forward at ADAD’s upcoming events for the next few months. We’re very excited about Dance Umbrella’s African Crossroads season as well as new collaborations with Yorkshire Dance and the Bristol-based Dance Dialogues season hosted by Imayla. There’s something for everyone this season, so be sure to come along and join in with some of our events.

As Trailblazers 2008/09 comes to an end, two of this year’s fellows Roni Cheesman and Lola Adodo share a bit of their journey. Finally, we have an excerpt from ADAD’s most recent publication Voicing Black Dance, which is now available for sale at the bargain price of £5.99. Click here to find out how to order your copy. This is a must-have for all dance enthusiasts, unearthing five decades of the history of Black dance artists in the UK.
