ADAD Celebrates…

The Coming of the BIG MISSION!

“Celebrating the here and now of Black Dance” is the focus of this year’s Big Mission. State of Emergency have partnered with Swindon Dance and The Wyvern Theatre to bring this three day national and international black choreographic festival. It encompasses performances, (Tavaziva, Ballet Black, Noel Wallace, Lola Adodo); masterclasses (George Momboye from France, Germaul Barnes from USA); debates (The Olympic Legacy, Diversity and Youth Dance) and opportunities for networking (evening receptions).

The Big Mission festival is part of The Mission Programme, a unique umbrella of performances, conferences, showcases, tours, festivals and professional development.

ADAD is proud to be associated with this event and will be hosting a reception and chairing a debate during the festival.

The programming is vast, varied and exciting encompassing all that is excellent and vibrant about Black Dance in Britain today. For more information, visit www.stateofemergencyltd.com

Sean Graham Wins Marion North Mentoring Scheme.

ADAD would like to celebrate the achievement of its current Trailblazer Sean Graham for winning the Marion North Mentoring Scheme, a category of the Bonnie Bird Choreography Fund. He continues in the success of Adesola Akinleye, also a past winner of the Bonnie Bird Choreographic Fund (UK New Choreography Award) and a former Trailblazer.

The Bonnie Bird Choreography Fund was established in 1985 to support emerging choreographers. Each year the fund offers up to 6 different awards across 3 categories. The awards are aimed at supporting and nurturing developing choreographers / writers by offering small grants to ease pressures and constraints by choreographers / writers seeking to develop their skills. The Marion North Mentoring Scheme is a unique and innovative scheme that pairs each of the two winners with a mentor, an established choreographer or dance artist currently working in the industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for choreographers in the early stages of their careers to benefit from advice, feedback and discussion from experienced professionals.

ADAD would like to congratulate Sean on this wonderful achievement.
