Part 1- ; Interactive discussion and practical session with Life coach Jackee Holder on the importance of commanding respect for you as an artist and how to maintain high standards of professionalism.
Part 2-; Group discussions led by key dance practitioners centred on specific issues affecting the various dance practices that exist under the African Peoples’ Dance/black dance umbrella.

'Dispelling the myths surrounding grants and funding and asking for help and accepting it when it comes'.

Arts Council Funding - ADAD invites representatives from Arts Council England and APD artists into a discussion on the new RFO scheme and Grants for the Arts; looking at the myths surrounding panel decisions on grant awards as well as the areas where artist applications are weak.
Commercial Sponsorship - How artists can develop commercial sponsorship opportunities and build long-lasting relationships with current and potential funders. Forum attendees who have been successful in this area will be asked to share their success strategies.

Archiving Seminar and Forum
Presentations by Beverley Gleane, Leon Robinson, Rufus Orisayomi, Future Histories and Laban on the work their organisations are doing to archive African Peoples dance in Britain. There will also be group discussions led by ADAD Advocates.
MASTERCLASS AND FORUM WITH GERMAINE ACOGNY
ADAD hosts the renowned Contmeporary African dance teacher and choreographer Germaine Acogny.

The ADAD forum focuses on the achievements of this great dance artist. Germaine Acogny will teach a masterclass accompanied by the drummers of Jamo Jamo Arts. She will then be interviewed by forum member Akosua Boakye. There will be plenty of opportunity for all forum members to talk to Germaine about her unique Contemporary African dance technique, her dance institutions in France and Senegal, and her vision for African dance.
This is a rare opportunity to meet one of the great pioneers of Contemporary African dance, and we at ADAD strongly encourage dance students and professionals alike to attend what promises to be a memorable event. There will be excellent networking opportunities in what we hope to be a supportive and motivational environment.
STEPPING OUT WITH LINDY

On 20 July 2006 at 6.30pm the London based Jiving Lindy Hoppers (JLH) will be bringing their performance and research skills together in a unique Lecture Demonstration at City Hall on the South side of the Thames near Tower Bridge as part of the nationwide Big Dance celebrations taking place that week.
Terry Monaghan, Co-Founder of JLH, will be leading the Lecture Demonstration and you can expect to see dazzling demonstrations and performances from The Jiving Lindy Hoppers, guest appearances from Lana and Darren - stars of Strictly Dance Fever 2006, and the first ever UK showing of ‘Where Feet Flew and the Lindy Hopped’, a video compilation put together for 80th Commemoration of the opening of Harlem's Savoy on 12 March 2006 at the surviving Alhambra Ballroom in Harlem, USA.
