ADAD is a national organisation that supports the practice and appreciation of dance of the African Diaspora. We want dance of the African Diaspora to be visible and valued as part of the British cultural experience.

ADAD has a unique role, working on behalf of talented dance artists who are part of the African Diaspora, to support their development and raise the profile of their work.

ADAD exists to:

  • Enable artists through continuing professional development
  • Develop new pathways to a sustainable future through education and training
  • Build networks through hosting events and sharing information
  • Foster pride in dance of the African Diaspora through celebrating heritage

‘MAKING TRACKS’ …

Professional Summer School in African Peoples Music & Dance

IRIE! dance theatre is Britain’s leading company working in the field of African and Caribbean dance training. This one-week Summer School will focus primarily on African and Caribbean dance with additional classes in Caribbean drumming, dance fusion and Street/Hip-Hop dance.


The programme is designed for participants who are:

  • Proficient in learning and performing dance routines
  • Have a basic understanding of diverse dance forms with particular reference to African and Caribbean dance.

5 classes per day will focus on context, technique and presentation, including an intensive course in Caribbean Drum Rhythms. A certificate of participation will be awarded at the end of the course.

Drumming- £100

Making Tracks will take place from Monday 30th June-Friday 4th July 2008.
