Open Stage

Open Stage

Open Stage is ADAD’s regular informal platform for work in progress. We invite artists working with dance of the African Diaspora to present their work in a studio setting to a small audience. The aim of the event is to provide a safe, supportive environment for artists to test out new ideas. The platform is open to artists at any stage of their career, but is particularly useful for emerging choreographers.

There is a professional panel that meets with the artists and gives them formal feedback in writing. The audience fills out feedback forms, which are also given to the artist after the event. The event is also filmed and each artist receives a copy of their performance.

ADAD works in partnership with venues and other organisations to host Open Stage. Partners include Feedback33 at London Studio Centre, Independent Dance at Siobhan Davies Studios, Irie! Dance Theatre at the Moonshot Centre, East London Dance at Stratford Circus, Contact Theatre, Phoenix Dance Theatre, and The Africa Centre.

Next event: Friday 1 March 2013 @ Swindon Dance, Regent Circus, Swindon, SN1 1QF from 7pm - 10pm.
